Honey Garlic Sesame Chicken

Recipes

This dinner is totally calling your name. At least, it is if your name's "Honey Garlic Sesame Chicken."

This salty-sweet, Asian-style chicken recipe comes together in 30-40 minutes, and tastes just as good as a restaurant dish. Seriously: you won't believe how easy it is to make sesame chicken at home.

The main thing that makes this dish so craveworthy is the honey sauce. While any raw & unfiltered honey will work for this sauce, we like Local Hive Oregon Honey Blend for this one. It has a rich, complex flavor that takes your sauce from basic to classic.

Raw & unfiltered honey contains all the nutrients, enzymes, and local pollens that the bees put inside. Plus, it's naturally sweeter-tasting than sugar, which means more flavor in your sauce that using a corn-syrup or simple-syrup based recipe.

Honey Garlic Sesame Chicken Recipe

Serves: 6

Time: 40 minutes

INGREDIENTS

Chicken:
1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
Vegetable oil, for frying

Sauce:
1 tsp vegetable oil
1 tsp garlic, minced
1/2 cup Local Hive Honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 TBSP ketchup
2 TBSP rice vinegar
1 TBSP sesame oil
2 tsp cornstarch
2 TBSP sesame seeds
2 TBSP green onions, thinly sliced

DIRECTIONS

1. Crack eggs into a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine
2. Place flour and 1/2 cup cornstarch in a shallow bowl or plate. Combine.
3. Dip chicken pieces into the egg mixture, then into flour.
4. Heat 1/2–1 inch of oil in a deep pan over medium-high. If a bit of cornstarch sizzles when added, it's hot enough.
5. Add 7–8 pieces of chicken to the pan at a time. Cook for 5 minutes or until crispy, then place on a paper towel to dry.
6. While the chicken cooks, grab another bowl and combine Local Hive Honey, soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar, sesame oil and 2 tsp of cornstarch.
7. In a separate large pan over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil. Add garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant. Add honey sauce mixture and simmer for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
8. Add crispy chicken pieces to the pan and toss to coat. Serve with steamed rice and edamame. Top with sesame seeds and green onions.
